Two types of animation are widely available for the web:
- Animated GIF: A series of changing still pictures. This tends to look something like a flip-book. Animated gifs often look "cheezy".
- Flash: Flash is higher technology offering greater flexibility, and a wider range of visual effects. Depending on how it is developed, Flash can take a long time to download over slow modem connections, or it may be quite fast.
We recommend Flash animation when:
- Entertainment is a big part of your web site’s message, or
- You feel it is important to dazzle viewers to get your point across, or
- You have a complex message that you need to communicate in an engaging way. (Animation can be very useful for telling stories.)
- You would like to display a "slide show" of images, with each dissolving into the next as they chage.
Options:
- We can develop a Flash "component" to your web site. For example, making a Flash web site header, or a Flash banner ad.
- We can develop your whole site in Flash, for a very high tech look. The downside here is entire sites in Flash are more expensive to build, more expensive to make changes to, and not very search-engine friendly.
