There are basically two types of animation available for the web:
- Animated GIF: A series of changing still pictures, this tends to look something like a flip-book. Animated gifs must be very small, or they will take a long time to download for users with slow modem connections.
- Flash: Higher technology offering greater flexibility, and a wider range of visual effects. Flash is viewable on "type 4" and above browsers. These browsers are freely available, but some users who have not upgraded in a very, very long time still won't be able to see Flash. Depending on how it is developed, Flash can take a long time to download over slow modem connections, or it may be quite fast.
We recommend animation when:
- Entertainment is a big part of your web sites message, or
- You feel it is important to dazzle viewers to get your point across, or
- You have a complex message that you need to communicate in an engaging way. (Animation can be very useful for telling stories.)
Options:
- We can develop a Flash "component" to your web site. For example, making your web site header, or a banner in your site Flash.
- We can develop your whole site in Flash, for a very high tech (and relatively expensive) look.
- Your web site can also have an alternate, "non-Flash" version for users without recent browsers.
Salutation:
Call us for animation. And, in the immortal words of that famous animated spokespig, Porky, That's all folks!
